About Me

Anne Potter, also known by her pen name Anne deNize, grew up on a farm in the scenic Pongakawa Valley. She pursued her education at Massey University, Auckland University, and the Auckland Technical Institute. After brief stints as a secretary/bookkeeper, legal clerk, and typing teacher, Anne transitioned into the burgeoning field of computing. Her career advanced from word processing to systems analysis, eventually earning her the role of National Office Automation Specialist for Wang New Zealand. Alongside her professional achievements, she co-authored Office Functions New Zealand, a textbook for business studies students.
Forced by her health to consider retirement, she became a writer – a long-held dream.

What began as a typical two-year “Great O.E.” turned into an extraordinary 28-year journey. It started at UNICEF’s Supply Division in Copenhagen, where she worked as an office automation trainer, later advancing to section manager and procedures officer. From there, she moved to the United Kingdom, co-founding a new information consultancy with her partner. During this time, she became a certified Management Consultant and Project Manager. Her career included a variety of consulting roles, followed by notable stints at Glaxo Wellcome and Transport for London.

When health challenges prompted her to consider retirement, she embraced her long-held dream of becoming a writer. Since then, she has e-published five children’s science fiction books, a fantasy novella, and a historical romance under her pseudonym. Additionally, she authored two practical guides, How to Organize an Event and What Makes You Tick, published under the name A.D. Potter.

After returning to New Zealand, she settled in Rotorua with her partner. Following her partner’s passing in 2018, she became a qualified Life Coach and practiced for several years. In 2024, she retired to focus on her passion for writing and now enjoys life in a retirement village, accompanied by her three beloved cats.
